On Saturday, April 20th, Hope Valley will host its second annual Spring Fling in the Shelly Place cul-de-sac. The rain date for this event is April 27.
This annual event consists of a HUGE plant sale, garden tour, and information from recommended service vendors.
This neighborhood has a number of gardeners. For the past year we have been dividing plants from our gardens and potting them to sale at prices far below the big box stores. We currently have more than 70 plants potted and ready to go and will likely come up with more this spring!!
In addition to having many gardeners, several different neighbors have taken part of the CCAP program (http://dconc.gov/index.aspx?page=580) and have rain gardens and cistern as well. After the spring fling, there will be a walking tour of selected gardens throughout the neighborhood.
Neighbor recommended service vendors (handymen, electricians, arborist, etc) will set up tables with contact information and this would be a great time to ask for estimates on jobs. All vendors have been used by and recommended by neighbors in order to be invited to attend.
The spring fling will take place between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm. During that time, sign up for the garden tour that will take place right after.
We may sell food as we did last year. This has yet to be determined.
Check back on this blog in the coming months for updates!
