Durham County Government will observe the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18, 2016. On this day, most County offices will be closed. All County offices will reopen and resume normal hours of operation on Tuesday, January 19.

County Convenience Centers
The Durham County General Services Department will close its four Solid Waste and Recycling Convenience Centers on January 18. Durham County residents with a current 2015-2016 solid waste decal can resume disposal of garbage, recycling, yard waste and bulky items on January 19 beginning at 7 a.m.
Roadside Recycling Collection
The Durham County roadside recycling collection (Schedule A) for the week of January 18 will not change due to the holiday. Customers scheduled for Monday’s collection will receive service on Monday as scheduled.

Durham County Department of Public Health
The Durham County Department of Public Health will follow the Durham County Government Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday schedule.
For Public Health emergencies during the holiday closure, including communicable disease reporting, environmental health and suspected foodborne illnesses, please call 911 and ask for the Durham County Department of Public Health’s response team member on-call.

Durham County Library
Durham County Library will also be closed on January 18, for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. The library will reopen on January 19 with regular hours.

Durham County Social Services
Durham County’s Department of Social Services (DSS) will follow the Durham County Government holiday closing schedule. DSS will close their Main Street office and the office of Durham’s Alliance for Child Care Access, located at 1201 Briggs Avenue, Suite 101, on January 18, 2016. DSS will reopen with normal hours of operation on January 19.
